Option to accept or renounce an estate
The choice each heir makes regarding an estate: accept it, accept it up to the net assets, or renounce it.
In France, for four months from the death, no one can force an heir to choose. Accepting up to the net assets protects against debts: you never pay them beyond what you receive.
